How Dry I Am...

If you're in Costa Rica over 'Semana Santa' (Holy Week, running the week starting Saturday before Palm Sunday until Easter Sunday), be forewarned that there is a dry law in effect, starting Wednesday at midnight until midnight Friday. That means no alcohol sales - not in the stores, not at bars, not at restaurants nor hotels. Nada. And the staff won't budge since the establishment's liquor license would be in peril. Even the eggnog in cartons (rompope) is locked away (I mean, really, egg nog?).What to do? Join all the Ticos and stock up on Wednesday.I've said it before and will say it again...Semana Santa should be avoided as a wedding date and this is one of the reasons why (besides the crowded beaches, jampacked hotels and higher room rates).
